It all started with a phone call....

The Holy Apostles Greek Orthodox Church was established in 2006 with the Loudoun County phone book as the main resource. As it celebrates its 18th year, the community is embarking on the acquisition of a new property with over 110 families.

Where is your spiritual home; how far would you take your family?

The Orthodox Church is the second largest Christian church worldwide yet there is over 65 miles between the closest two Greek Orthodox Churches in Falls Church and Winchester, Virginia. Holy Apostles is the first, and only, Greek Orthodox Parish in Loudoun County.

Where are we now and where are we going?

In a leased storefront we are overflowing and have no room for growth. The arrival of a new full-time priest, combined with the growth of Loudoun County, provides the foundation for a multi-year expansion in membership and a pathway to sustainability as a larger parish. We have faith and can see our future of building a permanent home that will serve as the epicenter of Christianity, Greek culture, and philanthropy for Loudoun County.

What do we offer? - more than just a Greek Festival

In addition to welcoming all to participate in our faith, and spreading our culture with festivals, our church offers philanthropic and financial support to many organizations: religious and language education; volunteering with and supporting local charities, contributing food and clothing to programs in need; and fundraising to support victims of natural disaster.

Help us to realize our vision!

Our Parish Future Planning Committee is charged with searching vigorously for a property and location that will help our community to succeed and flourish.  To follow this vision, we work closely with the Parish Council and all organizations to solicit input from our community as we explore options for our Church's future.

Our primary goal is to find a permanent home that will allow our growing spiritual family the location, space, and facilities to enable all of our Parish ministries to fulfill their role in connecting our community and helping Holy Apostles become a true, welcoming, beacon of our Greek Orthodox Faith.

We are currently exploring properties that meet the following criteria:

  • Geographic area bordering Route 28 to the east, Potomac river/White's Ferry to the north, Braddock Rd to the south, and Route 15 to the West. This area has been chosen based on the location of our parish families while giving us a range of available options that we can finance.

  • We are looking for properties that we can economically support given our current building fund resources and the current and growing size of our parish in the middle of rapidly growing Loudoun County.

  • We are looking for properties where we can have approximately 15,000 square feet to provide space for our Church (Narthex, Nave, Altar), A social hall, classrooms, offices, and the facilities that would allow us to hold large Parish events including a Greek Festival.

Our committee has grown to meet the task of organizing and fulfilling our responsibilities.

We have 4 subcommittees working on the following areas:

  • Long-Term Operating Plan

  • Capital Fundraising

  • Site Selection and Acquisition

  • Parish Communications

We welcome assistance and involvement of any parish member!  The following people are currently working on the committee:

Greg Joiner, Bill Bakopanos, Ron Baldinger, Mina Baldinger, Greg Cherpes, Dean Coulopoulos, Dean Economou, Rami Elsarraf, Jim Glakas, Andrew Kaffes, Nikoleta Lelis, Robert Maalouf, Bill Papanastasiou, Nicholas Spyros, Maria Zangos, George Pappas
