Blessing homes of Orthodox Christians is done each year directly following the feast of Theophany which occurs on January 6th. The Feast of Theophany (or Epiphany) commemorates the Baptism of our Lord in the Jordan River by John the Baptist. The Great Blessing of Water takes place at the end of that day's Liturgy and is taken by the priest to bless the faithful's homes. It is important to have your home blessed by the priest at the start of each year to sanctify the space where you live.
